The Ubuntu Manual Team has announced that a brand new edition of their manual is out, covering the Ubuntu 14.04 LTS (Trusty Tahr) release that was made six months ago.

Not everyone speaks fluent Ubuntu and a manual is always a good way to learn something new. The Linux platform is becoming increasingly more popular and lots of new users are migrating to open source. Ubuntu is one of the most used Linux distributions out there and the fact that there is a manual that everyone can understand is a big plus.

The new manual is called "Getting Started with Ubuntu 14.04", and just like the operating system it explains, it's free to download, distribute, change, and of course share. It's developed by a dedicated team of professionals and has support for numerous languages, which is one of the reasons why it seems to arrive so late.

How useful is the "Getting Started with Ubuntu 14.04" manual

Some users might find the Unity desktop difficult to cope with, especially if they arrive to this operating system from Windows or Mac OS. It's not the same kind of experience and things are done differently, like in any Linux distro as a matter of fact. Having a handy manual to check is very useful, especially since it's a PDF document that can be searched and it's full of images that exemplify everything.

"Getting Started with Ubuntu 14.04 is a comprehensive beginners guide for the Ubuntu operating system. It is written under an open source license and is free for you to download, read, modify and share. The manual will help you become familiar with everyday tasks such as surfing the web, listening to music and scanning documents. With an emphasis on easy-to-follow instructions, it is suitable for all levels of experience."

"Our goal is to cover the basics of Ubuntu (such as installation and working with the desktop) as well as hardware and software management, working with the command line, and security. We designed this guide to be simple to follow, with step-by-step instructions and plenty of screenshots, allowing you to discover the potential of your new Ubuntu system," reads the official website and the manual itself.

This is not the first edition of the manual and the team that worked on it has a great deal of experience in doing this work. This is the best you're going to get. Even if you are an Ubuntu user, it doesn't hurt browsing through it because you might get to learn something.
