The team at Microsoft in charge of the Games with Gold program for Xbox Live is ready to confirm the video games it will offer for free to those who subscribe to the Gold service during the month of March and also has an exciting announcement about the future of the initiative.

Gamers who own an Xbox One will be able to play Rayman Legends for free, experiencing the complex and hilarious action that the platformer can deliver and its excellent choice of music.

On the Xbox 360, players will be able to play through the Tomb Raider reboot and see the new incarnation of Lara Croft deal with a number of enemies, explore the environment, and use her skills to get through complex puzzles.

Gamers also receive BioShock Infinite without any charge, and they can take on the role of Booker DeWitt as he searches for Elizabeth and then fights alongside her in one of the most complex stories ever created in the video game medium.

Microsoft is also ready to reveal that, since the Games with Gold for Xbox Live was first introduced at E3 2013, more than 100 million titles have been downloaded by players.

In order to celebrate the milestone, the company is offering twice the usual number of free titles, which means two will arrive on the Xbox One and four on the Xbox 360.

Microsoft states on the Xbox Wire that "To-date, we’ve featured a diverse set of iconic titles like Tomb Raider, Halo 3, Battlefield: Bad Company 2, and Saints Row: The Third – and we’re excited to add many more games to that list in the years to come. It’s never been a better time to be a gamer with Xbox Live Gold!"

Microsoft is still testing ways to make the Xbox One more attractive

The doubling of the number of titles offered for free is designed to thank the community for its loyalty, but also to show the extra value gamers can get on the Xbox One and the Xbox 360 as long as they subscribe to Xbox Live Gold.

Microsoft needs to find and implement innovative ways of boosting sales of its hardware, especially in the face of tough competition from Sony and its PlayStation line.

At the moment, the PS4 is leading worldwide in terms of sales and it seems unlikely that Microsoft will manage to catch up only with the recently implemented price cut for the United States and a double dose of free games.
