Stardock has just released the 4th beta of Galactic Civilizations III, its most treasured 4X strategy game in the popular franchise. The latest version of the game brings some new features and improvements over the previous iteration.

Even though Galactic Civilizations III shows on Steam Early Access, the game is in fact in beta, but it can't be tagged as such by Valve, instead it will remain on early access until release.

The game can be purchased on Steam for no less than €45.99, which is quite a lot considering the state of the game. Sure you get to play the beta, but developers are also taking advantage of your constructive feedback, so it should be a win-win situation.

Anyway, in beta 4, Stardock introduces the Battle Viewer, in fact a prototype version of it, which will allow players to see their fleets shoot lasers, launch missiles and blow each other up in detail.

Some new features have been included in beta 4, such as the option to pause, restart or change the battle speed, a free camera to view the battle from any angle, a cinematic, top down, side, chase, orbiting and front camera for the battle viewer and many more.

Lots of new traits have been added in this beta

The Ideology system has been revamped, so instead of the old pyramids new paths have been implemented and new ideology unlocks that offer interesting bonuses.

There are actually lots of new Benevolent, Pragmatic and Malevolent traits included in the beta 4, so those who played any of the previous versions will probably find these a welcomed addition.

Stardock claims lots of crash fixes have been fixed, as well as an issue where Ascension points weren't calculated and tracked correctly.

Galactic Civilizations III beta 4 brings lots of new features and improvements over the previous iterations, so for the full list of changes make sure to head over to the game's forum.
