Take Two has just announced Grand Theft Auto V has now sold more than 45 million copies worldwide, with 10 million sold only on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. The rest are split between PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, though exact numbers haven't been shared by the company.

That being said, Grand Theft Auto V is the best-selling game of all time having surpassed Nintendo's original Super Mario Bros. by 5 million.

Grand Theft Auto Online is another successful title under Take Two's umbrella with millions of players who log in every day to play on all four consoles.

Moreover, Grand Theft Auto V is expected to boosts its sales in just a few months when Rockstar plans to launch the PC version of the game.

Rockstar sold 11 million Grand Theft Auto V copies on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 in the first day on sale, which is another world record awarded to Rockstar's game.

“Take-Two’s positive momentum was demonstrated once again, as we delivered exceedingly strong third quarter revenues and profits, and finished the quarter with nearly $1 billion (€870K) in cash and short term investments,” said Strauss Zelnick, chairman and CEO of Take-Two.

The number will drastically increase once the PC version is released

It will be interesting to see how many GTA V copies Rockstar will be able to sell on PC. The developer currently runs a promotion for those who pre-order the game until March 9 and offers them no less than $1.3M in-game money.

The first pre-order bonus offer expired on February 1 and included a free game from a selected list as well. Grand Theft Auto V for PC has been confirmed for release on Steam on March 24.

In the same piece of news, Take Two confirmed NBA 2K15 has shipped 5.5 million and no less than 29 million Civilization: Beyond Earth copies.
