Gamers need to stay clear of all offers of access

The development team at Rockstar is launching a new and special page associated with the new versions of its hit Grand Theft Auto V, which is designed to warn gamers about the many scams that are appearing and are promising fans access to a supposed beta stage which will take place on the PC, the Xbox One and the PlayStation 4.

The design of the warning section on the official site is relatively sparse and sets out to clearly inform gamers and to make sure that they stay protected and do not fall prey to any identity theft attempt or other problems.

Rockstar states, "Please note: There is no pre-release 'BETA' test for Grand Theft Auto 5. If you see ads or solicitations to join a beta program, beware as this is likely some type of online phishing scam."

Invites have been apparently sent out by mail and the crooks have used addresses that are close to the official ones associated with the company and its products.

The page also confirms that the studio currently has no plans to test the changes it is making to the new versions of GTA V in any way and will only listen to feedback coming from the community once the titles are actually out.

GTA V is moving to current-gen consoles and the PC

Gamers who own either a PlayStation 4 from Sony or an Xbox One from Microsoft will be able to play Grand Theft Auto V on November 18 all over the world, while PC fans will need to wait until the end of January of next year.

The development team says that the new versions are designed to improve the graphics and the core gameplay.

There's more traffic to move through, more foliage on all the vegetation that appears in the title, and there are improvements to the damage system and to the way characters move through the world.

Scams are a day-to-day reality for all major titles, but those that talk about a beta for GTA V need to be squashed as soon as possible because Rockstar might face smaller than expected sales if the community becomes disappointed with the studio in the long term.

At the moment, the company is also working on delivering new content for the Online mode, including the much awaited Heists, which are supposed to introduce big and bank-centered cooperative missions.
