Grand Theft Auto 5 developer Rockstar Games confirms that its upcoming PC version of the iconic game stands out through many different things from the editions that already launched on PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, and Xbox One. From the 4K resolution support, to 60fps framerate and a myriad of improvements, the new title is the definitive edition.

Rockstar Games launched GTA 5 for the PS3 and Xbox 360 platforms back in September of 2013. Afterwards, while simultaneously launching major updates for the game with fresh content, Rockstar also released GTA 5 on the PS4 and Xbox One devices in November of last year.

But when it came to the PC version of the game, fans only got a series of delays and promises that the extra waiting was going to be worth it.

GTA 5 on PC is the definitive edition

Now, GTA 5 on PC is set to debut next week, and Rockstar has begun hyping it up in comparison to the console versions of the game.

According to the studio's Graphics Technical Director, Alex Hadjadj, the main factors that differentiate GTA 5 on PC from the PS4 or Xbox One editions is the scalability and the array of improvements. From running the game at 4K resolution and a 60fps framerate to tweaking all sorts of options, the new title is certainly the best looking one of all.

"The most striking aspect is the ability to run the game at 60 frames per second, and to view the game in 4K resolution. Other improvements are more subtle--the addition of the population density slider means players can alter the traffic population of the city. Also, when pushing settings at the high end, a lot of the effects in the game, like reflections, skins or depth of field are more subtle and realistic than on console versions," he tells Gamespot.

As such, PC users shouldn't be worried about getting an inferior product when GTA 5 begins rolling out in late April 13 worldwide.
