Don't expect the ENB Series to debut for GTA 5 on PC

The developer of the popular ENB Series mod, Boris Vorontsov, confirms that Rockstar has done everything it could to prevent owners of Grand Theft Auto 5 on PC from tampering with the game's files, making mods like his own creation impossible to work.

GTA 5 finally launched onto the PC platform yesterday, and the general consensus right now is that the open world experience made by Rockstar Games is working quite well on the PC and doesn't seem to suffer from actual game errors. Unfortunately, some issues with the mandatory Rockstar Social Club are reported.

Even so, players have started to have fun with the single-player story and the GTA Online multiplayer mode, while others have started tinkering with the files in hopes of creating mods and enrich it just as it happened with GTA 4 many years ago.

No mods for GTA 5 on PC due to strict limitations

Unfortunately, things are much tougher with this current game, at least according to ENB Series creator Boris Vorontsov. His mod enabled owners of games like GTA 4 or The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim a huge amount of freedom when it came to visual effects.

He says on the official forums that Rockstar has done everything it could to prevent game file editing, and thereby any mods like ENB. As such, it's unlikely to see any big mods for GTA 5 on PC until Rockstar eases up its stance on mods and file editing.

"Rockstar did everything to prevent modding of GTA5, so at this moment impossible to do anything via editing game files. All my buddies modders share the same opinion, that GTA is short living like any other game without mods," he says.

Rockstar previously went on the record to say that it would eliminate any mods that tamper with the GTA Online multiplayer experience or affect the community. Unfortunately, it seems that very few actual mods will even appear due to the current restrictions.
