Rockstar Games confirms that it's finally going to roll out the long-awaited online heists for Grand Theft Auto 5's multiplayer mode through the very first update that's going to appear for the game on the PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, and Xbox One platforms.

GTA 5 launched last year for the PS3 and Xbox 360 consoles around the world, delighting tens of millions of fans with the solid single-player story campaign at first, and then, after a few weeks, through the GTA Online multiplayer, which was released as a free update.

Since then, developer Rockstar has rolled out many different free patches and updates, focusing specifically on the online multiplayer by bringing forth different activities, items, vehicles, and much more.

One thing, however, has been sorely missing, as the online heists promised before launch are still unavailable within the multiplayer mode.

Online heists are coming soon, really

After quite a few vague statements and promises, Rockstar confirms that the online heists will be available as part of the first multi-platform update for GTA 5 across PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, and Xbox One.

While talking about all the updates released for the game's online mode, Rockstar states on the official website that players will be able to participate in the cooperative heists very soon.

"We know you’re all excited for more Updates to come and we’ve got some really exciting stuff in the works to continue adding to, expanding and evolving the world of Grand Theft Auto Online – including the highly anticipated launch of Online Heists which will be available for all four consoles as the first GTA Online Update to happen after the game launches on PS4 and Xbox One. We’ll have some details on that very soon as well," the studio reveals.

Considering GTA 5 is coming to PS4 and Xbox One next week, on November 18, you can expect the online heists to appear sometime towards the end of November or beginning of December, depending on whether or not the game encounters any issues when it launches on the new consoles.

Rockstar is proud of its GTA Online support

The studio also brings forth a massive infographic, which you can admire above, that shows off the vast scale of the GTA Online multiplayer experience.

"We just wanted to say thank you to the awesome and dedicated players that have made GTA Online such a nonstop thrill over the past year on PS3 and Xbox 360 so far. We may have provided the world and the tools, but it’s really you players who have made the Online world as amazing as it has become. We’ve dug up a few bits of Online census info as you can see below that help illustrate that point," it adds.

Expect to hear more about what Rockstar plans to do with GTA Online after its new-generation debut in the following weeks.
