A new update has been released for the OS

GParted Live is a small bootable GNU/Linux distribution that has a lot of features and that can be used in operations like creating, reorganizing, and deleting disk partitions on a variety of filesystems. A new stable update has been made available and the operating system is now at version 0.21.0.

The updates made to the Gparted Live distro are usually not really consistent and the developers make changes in small increments. The same can be said about the latest iteration of the distro. It's nothing to write home about, but some of the improvements make this release relevant, even if it's for the implementation of the latest GParted application.

Users mustn't confuse GParted with GParted Live. The former can be installed in most, if not all Linux distributions, and the latter one is a Live CD edition that integrates this application. Just plug in the CD or USB drive with this distro and you have access to all of the powerful tools provided by GParted.

GParted Live gets new features and a couple of smaller changes

New releases made for GParted Live don't come all that often, but they usually accompany the launch of the stable app. In this case it's about GParted 0.21.0, which landed with some interesting modifications.

" This live image contains GParted 0.21.0 which fixes an off-by-one sector error in GParted's internal block copy algorithm, and removes unnecessary duplicate actions when resizing a partition," reads the official announcement.

Also, the developers have based the system on the latest Debian Sid repository (as of 2015/Jan/27), the i486 live image has been replaced with i586, the operating system now requires 256 MB of RAM, and the distribution is now able to detect ReFS.

A complete list of new features and bug fixes can be found in the changelog, and that includes all the modifications made until now. You can download GParted Live 0.21.0 right now from Softpedia. It's a very small OS and users should have no problem running it on virtually any PC.
