GOG.com is taking its job seriously, and they are working to promote Linux in any way they can. Now, the DRM-free digital platform has just released three classic Star Trek games, and they all come with Linux support.

It was a time when Star Trek was important enough to spawn game after game, especially back in the ‘90s when the TV series was the most watched Sci-Fi show. Fast forward 20 years later, and we can barely see a new Star Trek movie once a decade. Interestingly enough, old games are making a comeback and developers not only provide support for newer operating systems but also offer Linux versions.

These three Star Trek classic games, Star Trek: 25th Anniversary, Star Trek: Judgement Rites, and Star Trek: Starfleet Academy, have premiered on GOG.com. Given the platform's dedication to the Linux platform, it's no wonder that they also made them available for the open source platform.

This is just the beginning

From what the guys from GOG.com are saying, it seems that this is just the start and that we'll see more of these amazing classic games arrive on the Linux platform. GOG is already giving this treatment to many such franchises, including Star Wars which just landed a week ago.

"Sci-fi fans and Trekkies of GOG.com, we've got you covered: we're beaming Star Trek straight onto your computers starting now: it's Star Trek's turn to shine on our digital store shelves! Today, we boldly go where no store had gone before, with three of the greatest Star Trek classics ever made premiering digitally, right here on GOG.com! Beam us up, GOGbear! We're one a voyage to trek across galaxies, and we're taking everyone along. Today is the beginning, who knows what the distant future may bring?" reads the official announcement.

Players can buy either each game individually or the entire series.
