Video game developer FreeStyleGames and publisher Activision have not delivered a full list of the acts that will be part of the upcoming Guitar Hero Live, but it seems that they are aiming to deliver a wide range of acts from both the United States and other major markets.

It seems that the two companies are aiming for a series of reveals over the coming months, probably focused on genres rather than actual bands.

John Napier, a project director working on Guitar Hero Live, states that "the labels are enthusiastic about the fact that it’s coming back, and they’re keen to work with us. We’re going to have so many songs in GHTV; there’s going to be a lot of new materials for players to enjoy. We wanted to have a mechanism that would enable a continual supply of new music coming to the network."

At the moment, names like The Black Keys, Fall Out Boy, My Chemical Romance, Gary Clark, Jr., Green Day, Ed Sheeran, The War on Drugs, The Killers, Skrillex, The Rolling Stones, The Lumineers, Pierce the Veil, and Blitz Kids are involved.

Negotiations between Activision and various record companies are still ongoing.

It seems that a much bigger number of bands and artists will be featured on the TV-style network of Guitar Hero Live that will be part of the single-player campaign.

Guitar Hero Live is coming with a new instrument in the fall

Activision and FreeStyleGames are aiming to deliver the title on the Xbox One from Microsoft, the PlayStation 4 and older platforms at some point in the fall.

The core package will sell for 99 dollars or Euro and will include an entirely new instrument, which has been designed to use a new layout in order to make it easier for gamers to play the songs.

None of the older hardware associated with the series will be compatible with the new installment.

The development team is also aiming to focus more on the interaction between player and crowds by using a first-person view for the single-player campaign.

Activision has also suggested that a range of new content will be free for Guitar Hero Live and that there are features of the title which will involve microtransactions.
