Video game developer Playground Games, publisher Microsoft and movie company Universal are announcing that Forza Horizon 2 will get a standalone expansion based on the Fast & Furious franchise on March 27 of this year and that gamers will be able to get access to it for free until April 10.

The content will only be offered on the Xbox One and the free access period is designed to promote the launch of the new movie in the series, which is called Furious 7 and will probably mark the end of the universe in cinemas.

Gamers do not have to own Forza Horizon 2 in order to play the new races, and after April 10, gamers who want to get access to the content will have to pay 10 dollars or Euro.

Universal claims that it has sought for a long time to link the Fast & Furious movie franchise with the racing series, but only now the circumstances were right and they managed to deliver an interesting set of experiences that will appeal to both movie fans and gamers.

The expansion for Forza Horizon 2 will take place before the events of the movie and will take players to France, where they become a driver who gets vehicles, expensive and good-looking ones, for Tej Parker, played by Chris Bridges, aka Ludacris.

All the automobiles included are virtual recreations of the most important cars from the movie series, including the 1970 Dodge Charger R/T, which is driven by Vin Diesel's character, Dominic Toretto.

Forza Horizon 2 will deliver plenty of other cool cars to drive

Other included cars are 1998 Toyota Supra, 1970 Plymouth Road Runner, 2012 Nissan GT-R, 1970 Plymouth Cuda, 2013 Jeep Wrangler, 2014 Maserati Ghibli S and 2015 Dodge Charger.

The development team says that it has had full access to the assets associated with the coming movie in order to make sure that its virtual renditions come as close to the real world as possible.

It's unclear if other actors from Furious 7 will be involved in the launch of the new content for Forza Horizon 2.

The title was introduced on the Xbox One in the fall of last year and Turn 10 is already working on a sixth full game in the franchise, which will arrive later in 2015.
