14 DAY TRIAL // Video game developer Playground Games and publisher Microsoft are announcing that they are aiming to launch a new piece of downloadable content for Forza Horizon 2 next week, which will mark the first appearance in the virtual space of the 2016 Mazda MX-5 Miata.
The entire new DLC will focus on this brand, as gamers will be able to use four of the most iconic Mazda MX-5 models for free on March 17 on the Xbox One.
The official Xbox Wire announcement states, "Starting with the car that reignited the world’s love of sports cars in the late 1980s – the 1990 Mazda MX-5 Miata – and featuring three other models, including the 2005 Mazda Mazdaspeed MX-5, the 2010 Mazda MX-5 Super20 concept car, and the upcoming 2016 Mazda MX-5, this pack covers more than 20 years of the MX-5’s legendary contributions to sports car history."
On March 17, Forza Horizon 2 players will also be able to take part in a new Rivals contest which will be offered until April 30.
The prize for those who take part will be a real world 2016 Mazda MX-5.
Gamers will need to register and then take part in a special event in Forza Horizon 2 on the Xbox One to try and score the best possible time.
The most recent Mazda MX-5 Miata model is designed to deliver more power than the original while also offering a danceable rear end and intuitive steering for drivers who want both a racing feeling and a solid car for everyday use.
Forza Horizon 2 is also getting a free Furious 7 expansion in April
Next month, the development team in charge of Forza Horizon 2 is aiming to also deliver a free expansion for the racing title which will celebrate the launch of the new Furious 7 movie.
Gamers will be able to use the iconic cars of the series to move around the game world while trying to accomplish missions that involved some of the main characters.
At the moment, the Turn 10 team focusing on the core franchise experience is working on a sixth full title, Forza Motorsport 6, which is set to be offered in the fall and will upgrade the engine and the racing experience the series offers.
