All will be decided by one single goal scored by Bony

The January transfer window is in full swing, which means clubs are able to buy new players and remove dead weight as they upgrade their squads for a renewed push for their season objectives, but it seems that for at least one major championship some of the changes made during the period might have a big impact.

The team at Sports Interactive is using the Football Manager 2015 engine to show that Manchester City, which has already signed a powerful striker in Bony, can use the rest of the month to secure the services of players who could help them win the Premier League.

A simulation shows that they would get the top place on goal difference, while Chelsea would be the winner if no changes were made to the teams.

The no transfers scenario created by Football Manager 2015 involves some losses for Mourinho’s side, but they do manage to defeat Manchester City in their direct match, which gives them a crucial three points to secure the title, according to The Mirror.

Leicester, Hull and Sunderland are destined for the relegation zone.

Football Manager 2015 has a whole new system for scouting and transfers

The biggest changes of the season, as simulated by the Sports Interactive game, are the already mentioned transfer of Bony to Manchester City, a move to Manchester United for Strootman, and no moves for Chelsea.

The new striker does not score too many goals at Manchester City but he does manage to relieve some of the pressure on the existing line-up, which leads to improved performance.

In this scenario, Manchester United and Arsenal are in the top four, and Sunderland, West Bromwich Albion and Hull are relegated.

Modern football, both in its real and its virtual incarnations, is very complex and any simulation needs to be taken with a grain of salt, especially one which delivers such close results.

That being said, Football Manager 2015 manages to create some very cool scenarios for the Premier League and the game will become even more life-like when January ends and the team at Sports Interactive can offer a patch to update the rosters of the included teams.
