The game is available in the preview version as well

One of the most popular Android games this year, Flappy Bird has been removed from Google Play Store at the express request of its developer, Dong Nguyen.

According to him, Flappy Bird was too addictive for Android gamers, so even if it was generating up to $50,000 in ad revenue daily, he decided to bring it down.

Flappy Bird was equally popular on iOS and Android mobile platforms, which is why it was removed from both application stores when the developer decided to do so several months ago.

Although the game made it back to App Store after a while, it didn’t have the same success when it was originally launched as the developer made a few changes that would supposedly lower the amount of addictiveness it can deliver.

Well, it looks like the whole situation was kind of funny, as Google thought the next version of Android should definitely feature some sort of Flappy Bird cameo.

Many other software developers implemented Flappy Bird as Easter Egg or cameo inside their products, so why shouldn’t Google do the same thing.

As per The Verge’s report, YouTuber Sam Nalty found out that a Flappy Bird clone resides hidden in the Android 5.0 Lollipop coding.

The Easter Egg is accessible in the preview version of Android 5.0 Lollipop

Those who own a Nexus 5 smartphone and have already installed the latest preview image delivered by Google will be able to find this Easter Egg in the Settings menu.

Simply head over to About phone and double-tap on the Android version and a lollipop icon will pop up on the screen. The Android 5.0 main icon will slowly turn into various colors, after which you will be presented with a Flappy Bird-like game in which you will have to avoid lollipop obstacles and lead an Android mascot to the end of each level.

Keep in mind that you will need to have USB debugging mode enabled as well, in order for this to work, or at least that’s what the video below suggests.

Now, it’s unclear whether or not Google will make this Easter Egg accessible in the final version of Android 5.0 Lollipop when it arrives on more devices next month, but we don’t see any reasons not to.

Do think that this is the best Easter Egg ever that Google included in an Android version, or it’s just a PR stunt from the search giant? Oh well, they could be both of course, so share your thoughts with us in the comments section.
