A sequel might be created if sales are good

Final Fantasy Type-0 HD is one of the most expected titles of the year for fans of the classic Japanese role-playing game franchise, and the director working on the title, Hajime Tabata, says that gamers will need about 40 hours to get through the game for the first time.

This is already a solid chunk of gaming time for a modern gamer, but the Square Enix developer also says that those who want to truly appreciate what the title has to offer will need to then play through it at least one more time.

This allows the team to deliver new events and challenges, which will mean that a dedicated fan will have to spend about 100 hours with Final Fantasy Type-0 HD in order to see everything it has to offer.

In a Reddit Ask Me Anything session, Tabata explains that “FF uses a mix of medieval, modern, and futuristic aspects and I really love that. Personally, I love game worlds that incorporate real-world aspects or settings, too.”

He also states that the game will be accessible to a wide range of players because it uses the Xbox One and the PlayStation 4 hardware to deliver improved graphics and easier-to-use menus.

Tabata adds, “I’ve seen some questions about why Type-0 isn’t being released on the Vita while X/X-2 HD saw a Vita release. The reason is that the X/X-2 HD Remaster was developed on a PS3/Xbox 360 environment, while Type-0 HD was developed on a PS4/Xbox One environment. So there is a great difference in the technical specs and it would not be easy to export the data to the Vita.”

Final Fantasy has a long-term future

Tabata also says that if Final Fantasy Type-0 HD sells well, it might get an official sequel in the coming years.

Final Fantasy Type-0 HD is set to arrive on March 17 in North America and on March 20 in Europe and gamers who buy it will also be able to get access to an Episode Duscae demo for Final Fantasy XV.

The new entry in the JRPG series will be introduced later during the year and Square Enix will probably announce an official date over the summer.

The franchise needs a big hit after the relatively disappointing performance of the trilogy created around Final Fantasy XIII.
