14 DAY TRIAL // We’re continuing our Fedora 22 Beta screenshot tour series with the KDE Edition, which provides the same under-the-hood improvements that are present in all other Fedora 22 Beta spins, but offers a modern user interface built around the next-generation KDE Plasma 5 desktop environment.

The KDE spin of Fedora 22 Linux comes with the latest version of the KDE Plasma 5 desktop, KDE Frameworks 5 collection, Qt 5 toolkit, and the new Breeze theme everyone loves because it provides better readability, cleaner visuals, better workflows, as well as a more polished and consistent KDE user interface.
"Plasma 5, the successor to KDE Plasma 4, is now the default workspace in the Fedora KDE spin," says the Fedora Project developers in the official release announcement for Fedora 22 Beta. "Changes under the hood include switch to Qt 5 and KDE Frameworks 5 and migration to fully hardware-accelerated graphics stack based on OpenGL(ES)."

As expected, the new Beta release of the Fedora 22 KDE operating system includes all the KDE apps that have been recently ported to KDE Frameworks 5. The Linux kernel 4.0 packages are also present, but the live patching infrastructure is not enabled by default.
Anyone who wishes to test the KDE edition of Fedora 22 Beta can do so by the downloading Fedora 22 Beta KDE Plasma 5 Live DVD right now from Softpedia. The operating system is available for both 64 and 32-bit computer platforms, but please keep in mind that it is a pre-release version that might contain bugs.
