Fedora 22 Alpha was officially unveiled on March 10 and until now we gave you detailed information about each of its Spins, including screenshot tours for the Workstation (GNOME), KDE, Xfce, LXDE, and MATE/Compiz editions. It is now time to talk a little about the Cloud Edition of the upcoming Fedora 22 Alpha.

As more and more of us tend to adopt cloud-based solutions, the Fedora Project prepared a nice announcement for its powerful Fedora 22 Cloud Edition during the Alpha announcement, bringing all sorts of enhancements in order to make the Fedora Linux operating system an important player in the cloud business.

“The Fedora 22 Cloud Edition builds on the work completed during the Fedora 21 cycle, and brings in a number of improvements that make Fedora 22 a superb choice for running Linux in the cloud,” was stated in the official release announcement for Fedora 22 Alpha.

Here’s what’s new in Fedora 22 Alpha Cloud Edition

The Alpha version of Fedora 22 Cloud Edition brings Tunir, a brand-new and lightweight CI (Continuous Integration) utility that lets users to rapidly test cloud images. This generic tool can be used by anyone who wants to quickly set up and run tests or jobs on their local machines.

The latest releases of the rpm-ostree-toolbox and rpm-ostree tools have also been included in the Alpha version of Fedora 22 Cloud Edition, allowing users to generate their own Atomic hosts using a custom set of packages. In addition, Vagrant image is also included for the Fedora 22 Cloud and Atomic Host Images, designed to be compatible with VirtualBox and KVM.

You can download the Fedora 22 Alpha Cloud Edition right now via Softpedia. When installing it, please keep in mind that the operating system is unstable, thus not suitable for production environments where stability is a must.
