Gamers should continue to deliver their feedback

The development team at Ubisoft working on Far Cry 4 announces that it has managed to find the cause of the black screen issues that were affecting some PC players who had external USB devices connected to their computers and plans to launch a patch 1.4.0 today or in a few days, designed to deal with the problems once and for all.

The official announcement states, “Some have been able to temporarily fix this problem by disabling USB devices and certain drivers, but we realize this is in no way ideal. For that reason, this Friday, November 21st, we'll be releasing Patch 1.4.0 for PC that should remedy the problem and allow PC players to enjoy the game as normal.”

Apparently, patch 1.4.0 for the PC version of Far Cry 4 will also bring other fixes which have not yet been made public, and the development team hasn’t mentioned whether it will also be offered on the Xbox One and the PlayStation 4.

The open world shooter had a relatively smooth launch and has not faced anywhere near the number of problems that were reported for Assassin’s Creed Unity, the other big Ubisoft launch of the fall.

Nevertheless, the company has set up a live updates blog and is offering details on how and when it plans to update the title.

PlayStation 3 Far Cry 4 error requires deletion and new download

Ubisoft also says that it has managed to find the original cause of the problem with the PlayStation 3 version of Far Cry 4 which delivered the “delete FC3 game data” message.

Basically, gamers have to completely delete their current install, although neither saves from Far Cry 3 nor Blood Dragon should be affected, and then download the title again from the PS Store, install it and allow the already released patches to be applied.

The file size should be 9.4 GB and the entire package has been updated to make sure that the issue reported on launch is no longer present.

Some gamers have mentioned in the comments that they still get the error, but they apparently have not followed the procedure Ubisoft laid out.

Far Cry 4 has been well received by the public and the development team has already confirmed that it will deliver downloadable content for the title, including new missions, one of which asks gamers to find a hidden valley and actively hunt down Yetis.
