Ubisoft has shared a few more details about the upcoming Far Cry 4 first-person shooter that's set to debut next month, confirming that it has five different endings and that, while a hardcore mode was initially promised, it won't be available at launch due to the extra work needed to implement and balance it.

Far Cry 4 is set to include a wide variety of changes as opposed to previous installments in the series, from major ones like the actual setting, which is now the fictional Himalayan country of Kyrat, to the protagonist, Ajay Ghale, the antagonist, Pagan Min, and what sort of adventures await players in the new first-person shooter.

Ubisoft has already hyped up the choices that can be made by players in the upcoming story campaign, as Ajay will have to make some decisions about the fate of Kyrat and its different warring factions, and now it seems that these elements will have an impact on the actual story.

Five different endings await players

Far Cry 4 Creative Director Alex Hutchinson confirms to IGN that there are five possible endings, depending on the choices made by players, but also on various other factors that can be determined by what people do or don't do in the campaign.

Hutchinson also mentions that the promised Hardcore mode is still on the drawing board, but at least in the initial release, it won't be included, as other things required the studio's attention.

"There are five endings to the game depending on various factors, but it’s up to you to discover them! We’re still talking about a possible Hardcore mode, but it won’t be in the first version we release unfortunately," he explains.

More locations were planned but didn't reach the final game

Hutchinson also confirms that a few other things were planned for Far Cry 4, such as locations for the Arena brawling encounters, but they didn't make the cut when the game entered its final stretch of development.

"In terms of other ideas that didn’t make the cut we’re always editing as we develop so there’s always something that gets cut. We originally planned for a few more locations for the player to fight in at the Arena side mission chain, but nothing that would have had a radical impact on the final quality of the game."

A regular Far Cry 4 playthrough has been estimated by some of its developers to last around 35 hours, so there's more than enough content in the game.

The new shooter launches next month on PC, PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, and Xbox One.
