After quite a lot of teaser statements, Ubisoft has finally confirmed the Battles of Kyrat mode for Far Cry 4, which includes an intense competitive experience for owners of the upcoming first-person shooter.

Far Cry 4 launches in November, and so far Ubisoft has showcased many different videos, screenshots, and details from its story campaign, which allows players to tackle the main missions alone, as well as to go on seamless cooperative adventures with a friend.

However, in recent weeks, Ubisoft's developers have confirmed that a competitive Far Cry 4 multiplayer mode is also included in the shooter experience, but have declined to offer any actual details.

Battles of Kyrat is Far Cry 4's PvP mode

Now, it seems that the time is finally right for an announcement, as Ubisoft confirms that the competitive player-versus-player experience from Far Cry 4 is called Battles of Kyrat and focuses on a pretty intriguing conflict.

More specifically, there are two factions in Battles of Kyrat, one representing the Golden Path freedom fighters, and the other being the Rakshasa, which is comprised of ancient warriors who use their mythical powers to serve dictator Pagan Min.

Each faction has both advantages and disadvantages, so Ubisoft believes that the sides are equally matched in terms of power.

"The Rakshasa are the mythical warriors of Kyrat with strong ties to their natural surroundings. They can call upon animals to help in both defending and attacking positions. The Rakshasa only use traditional weapons, specifically the bow, but are capable of crafting multiple alterations to their weapons," Ubisoft explains.

"On the other hand, the Golden Path is all about its arsenal: guns, vehicles and tech-enhanced capabilities. They have access to a variety of weapon types, including assault rifles, shotguns, and multiple explosives. Finally, the Golden Path has access to bell towers, allowing them to spot the hidden enemy from far away."

Details about modes and mechanics have also been revealed

Besides confirming the PvP mode, Ubisoft also shares details about its three main modes and its different mechanics.

The three game types in Battles of Kyrat include Outpost, where the Golden Path members need to defend an outpost from the Rakshasa. Propaganda is where the Rakshasa must defend propaganda stations while the Golden Path needs to destroy them. Last but not least, there's Demon Mask, where the two factions fight over an ancient mask that needs to be carried to their respective home bases.

There will be 10 maps at launch and each encounter sees teams switch factions during the middle of the match.

Far Cry 4 launches on PC, PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, and Xbox One on November 18 in North America and November 20 in Europe.
