Over 71,000 fans have signed a petition to remaster and re-release Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 for the PS4 and Xbox One, hoping to draw attention from publisher Activision and developer Infinity Ward.

The Call of Duty series has been around for quite some time, starting out life back in 2003 and then becoming a behemoth of a series, with tens of millions of fans all over the world as well as many different studios that work on it, besides founder Infinity Ward.

However, while last year's Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare certainly delights many people, older titles are still considered the best, at least by some fans.

Modern Warfare 2 remastered is desired by many people

Now, 71,000 of them have manifested their interest in a remastered version of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 for the PS4 and Xbox One consoles.

The many different users have signed a petition on Change.org to showcase their interest and try to appeal to Activision and Infinity Ward for such a thing to happen.

According to the petition's initiator, Modern Warfare 2 is one of the best titles in the series, but unfortunately, the multiplayer on the PS3 or Xbox 360 platforms is overrun by hackers that ruin the whole experience. As such, a remastered version for the new devices should work really well, provided some enhancements are made.

"I speak for every one when I say that Modern Warfare 2 was one of Activision's best game (sic). Just a fun & enjoyable game that really gives you that nostalgic feeling. The guns, maps, kill streaks were just incredible. At the moment MW2 for the PS3 & Xbox is just overrun by hackers. If they remaster the game, & sort a couple things out (e.g noob tubing) it would make a lot of people happy," the petition reads.

Over 71,000 people have signed the petition and it doesn't show signs of stopping. Unfortunately, Activision hasn't commented on the movement amidst its fanbase.
