The AP16 Flex has a rotating kickstand with 90-degree flip

All-in-One computers don't often make do without at least one fan, but there are some fanless models out there, and the number of such systems has now increased by one with the release of the AP16 Flex.

The reason this system is called “Flex” is because of its special stand, a rotating kickstand that you can flip back 90 degrees.

This allows you to use the AiO normally, or to mount it on a wall, cabinet or some other vertical surface, for use as a TV, digital signage system or whatever else.

It also means that you will have a fairly easy time moving it around the house, especially since the screen size is actually on the small side.

The system measures only 15.6 inches in diagonal, which coincidentally means that the hardware inside isn't all that fancy.

On the other hand, if anything too ostentatious were included, the heat generated would have been too much for heatsinks alone to cope with. Bye-bye fanless design in that case.

As it is, buyers still get an Intel Celeron J1900 central processing unit (a 10W quad-core processor) with HD graphics and support for DDR3 memory.

Speaking of which, the top capacity is of 8 GB, but the default configuration offered by MSI uses 4 GB. Which is more than enough really, for something like this.

Also, the display has a native resolution of 1366 x 768 pixels and LED backlighting, plus multitouch support with 10 points.

Moving on, the system uses the “Star” voice control software which allows you to wake the PC with a word, or to bring up a music app, etc.

A final feature worth mentioning is the USB 2.0 and 3.0 availability, with the latter bringing with it Super Charger technology, which lets you recharge phones, tablets and other battery-powered devices faster than the interface normally allows.

Availability and pricing

The MSI AP16 Flex all-in-one PC has not been given an arrival date or price, but we imagine that retailers will list it any day now.
