Tech giants are slowly migrating from software and online services to the automotive industry, and both Google and Apple are living proof that there’s growing interest in this particular side of the industry at least from Silicon Valley .

But as far as Facebook is concerned, its future is all about “connecting people,” and the company only wants to focus on its social network for the next few years.

Speaking at the MWC 2015 in Barcelona, Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg denied recent speculation that his company might invest in cars and solar power, explaining that he only wanted to go on with his plan of connecting people globally.

Could Facebook lose touch with its Internet rivals because of its refuse to invest in something else besides the social network? The answer is no, Zuckerberg says, as people are still looking for ways to share their photos and videos online. And it’s not all about consumers, he added, as businesses are also interested in platforms that would make communications between employees more effective.

Google and Apple cars

It’s a well-known fact that Google is already building a driverless car, but as far as Apple’s efforts are concerned, little is known about the fruity-named company’s efforts.

It’s believed that Apple has already discussed a possible joint venture with several car manufacturers, including BMW, but up until now, no agreement has been reached.

Sources from within the company have revealed that Tim Cook agreed to form a team of approximately 1,000 employees that would work on building a car, but once again, only scarce information is available right now, as most of these workers are recruited from within the company.

Apple’s car is believed to be fully electric and it’s not yet known whether it would come with self-driving technology or not.

One thing is for sure, however: it would feature deep integration with the Apple Watch and iPhone, so it could become a best buy for Apple fanboys. Analysts have said that we should expect the Apple Car to see daylight in 2020.
