Today is the day when FIFA 15 launches in North America, with European gamers having to wait for another two days before they get their hands on the football simulation, and the developers at EA Sports are giving fans a chance to finalize their ideal teams by offering a look at the top ten defensive players included in the title.

The best option for gamers who plan to stop incoming attacks is Thiago Emiliano da Silva, currently at PSG, who was one of the biggest transfers in the world before the start of the 2013 season and has since put in some very solid performance, both for the club and the national team.

Two players who are currently part of German clubs occupy second and third places in terms of defensive prowess, with Hummels edging out Benatia in the ratings compiled by the scouts that work for EA Sports.

The studio states, “They say the best offense is a good defense. Having a great keeper is one thing, but having a fantastic back-line is your best insurance. These are the 10 best defensive players in FIFA 15.”

All the players that appear on the pitch in FIFA 15 have improved tactical awareness, and that means that on the defensive they are better able to read the intentions of the ball carrier and to stop him from getting the ball in a dangerous position.

FIFA 15 and the quest for perfection

EA Sports has been offering a wide array of information about its new football simulation before launch, explaining how the physics have improved, the way the presentation is closer to real world television broadcasts and how 2 years were spent working on improved goalkeepers.

FIFA 15 will have all the core modes of the franchise, with improvements to both the core career and the Ultimate Team experience.

Those who are not willing to buy the title outright can try out the demo on the PlayStation 4, the Xbox One, the PC and last-gen consoles, and EA Access subscribers can try out the entire experience for six hours.

FIFA 15 has the potential to be one of the biggest titles launched this year and EA Sports has long-term plans to support it via updates to fix any potential problems and via new releases for the Ultimate Team mode.

The title faces competition from Pro Evolution Soccer 2015, which arrives in November for the same platforms.
