14 DAY TRIAL // A lot of gamers were surprised when the development team at EA Sports announced that it would introduce a new Price Range feature in order to set a minimum and a maximum price for all the Ultimate Team content sold on the transfer market of FIFA 15.
Even more controversial was the decision to make the trading system inaccessible on the official web and companion mobile app.
Now, EA Sports is offering a wide-ranging defense of the two moves and explains that they are designed to make sure that fairness and fun become the defining attributes of FIFA 15 Ultimate Team and that there is no way for unscrupulous players to take advantage of the rest of the community.
The official site explains that coin farmers and cheaters created a lot of inflation, which damaged the game in fundamental ways and made it hard for gamers to acquire the top players and use them.
EA Sports says that it has seen an improvement in the situation since Price Ranges were introduced for FIFA 15 and claims that it is also investing in better security for all personal accounts and in new anti-cheating mechanics.
The studio adds that it is planning to introduce more tweaks to prices and to availability in order to improve the situation of Ultimate Team even further.
The web and companion app transfer market will be re-activated
EA Sports says it’s working to improve the stability and the security of the web and companion app-based transfer market for FIFA 15 so that it can bring it back online as quickly as possible for all users.
The company adds, "We also have more changes coming to make things better: better coin rewards for participating in featured FUT Tournaments, more great promotions and special content in FUT, and more security changes to cut off the exploits."
Ultimate Team is currently the most popular mode in FIFA 15, and this week marks the sixth anniversary of its initial launch.
Gamers can get free packs by simply logging into the game each day and they can also take part in a new Birthday Cup competition to get players that have been featured in the Team of the Week packages.
EA Sports has not said whether it plans to deliver more patches for FIFA 15 to tweak the core game mechanics before shifting fully to the next title in the franchise.
