Video game developer EA Sports is announcing that it has taken the online services associated with FIFA 15, including Ultimate Team, down for maintenance at the moment and that it is planning to restore them after about 3 hours.

The downtime started at 16:30 PM Greenwich Mean Time and 08:30 Pacific Time, and the official Twitter announcement arrived when the company had already implemented the measure.

EA Sports is not offering any details about the reasons for the maintenance period, and there's no information on the tweaks that might be made to FIFA 15 in the coming hours.

The development team has probably reacted to a problem encountered earlier today, as the policy is to announce gamers before maintenance starts, especially when Ultimate Team is involved.

Announcements are used so that the studio can make sure that their matches are not affected.

EA Sports might offer more details about the maintenance period when it is completed, and if the team needs to prolong it, gamers can expect an announcement to arrive via the official social media channels.

Ultimate Team transfers might be coming to the mobile and web apps soon

One possible reason for the maintenance period might be the fact that EA Sports is planning to re-enable the transfer market feature on both the web and the mobile application associated with the football sim.

The studio promised that it would deliver the change a few weeks before, and it would give players more freedom when it comes to team management.

EA Sports is also saying that it has plans to offer players a chance to get more coins from special tournaments of FIFA 15 Ultimate Team and other special events, which in turn should offer them a way to pick up better players.

There are also plans to introduce more tweaks to the Price Range feature, with the biggest players getting changes to their minimum and maximum cost on the various platforms, designed to reflect demand and offer.

EA Sports says that all the changes it is implementing are designed to make sure that Ultimate Team remains appealing and that all players can get to use major superstars like Messi, Ibrahimovic and Ronaldo.

UPDATE: The game is coming back online except on the Xbox 360, where the team needs a little more time to complete the maintenance.
