Developer A Crowd of Monsters will be releasing its funky platformer dubbed Funk of Titans for the Xbox One computer entertainment system later this week.

The game is a mix of platforming and funky good time, due out this Friday, on January 9, as a digital download-only title, available exclusively on Microsoft's latest console.

Its main feature is the unusual mix of Greek mythology and funk music, that somehow blend together in order to present a novel experience.

While the platforming stuff is pretty standard as far as game mechanics and level design go, the plot is a little on the unusual side. You step into the shoes of Perseus, the mighty son of Zeus, and are challenged with defeating the Music Titans, Pop, Rap and Rock.

"Funk music is the music of Gods. Zeus, the father of all of them, created and shared it with the rest of the Universe after making the first humans. The humans have been dancing and singing funky songs since then to give thanks to Zeus for receiving this blessing," the informative blurb on the game's official website states.

As the son of Zeus, Perseus can make use of his unique martial arts skills and occasional funky disco dance, over the course of 40 different levels. Aside from Funk-Fu, the protagonist will also ride his pimped Pegasus rocking horse and spew a ton of catchy one-liners.

The launch trailer below pretty much sums up what the game is all about. The developers promise bonus stages, several weapons to choose from, a groovy soundtrack, and lots of surprises.
