The most skilled players can choose their rewards

It’s only been a few days since developer Frontier launched the long-awaited spiritual successor to the popular Elite game and there are now prizes that can be won by the most skilled players.

Elite: Dangerous is now available for purchase through the developer’s online store and those who never got the chance to play the old game are in for a nice treat, but they will have a lot to catch up if they want to have a chance at winning one of the prizes offered by Frontier.

So, the announcement states that the first Elite: Dangerous players who achieve the Elite status for each combat, trading and exploration will win a separate £1,000 (€1,200 / $1,500) cash prize.

Additionally, players who don’t want to go for the £1,000 (€1,200 / $1,500) cash prize are eligible for the bigger £10,000 (€12,000 / $15,000) prize if they are the first to attain the coveted Triple Elite status for total mastery of all three.

However, if you already achieved one of the three Elite statuses for either combat, exploration or trading, and you opt to cash in the £1,000 (€1,200 / $1,500) prize, than you won’t be eligible for the bigger prize anymore.

The competition does not have a time limit

So, in order to qualify for the Elite competition, you must meet some requirements. For example, you will have to start on or after the release of the full game. Those who already played in beta or other Elite: Dangerous builds and still have the saves on their PCs will have to delete them voluntarily.

The next requirement would be that players have to begin with the Sidewinder start position and 1000 CR. This is the standard ship that all players get when purchasing Elite: Dangerous.

You will also have to play only in Open Play mode, which means not solo or in friend groups. Obviously, Frontier Developments employees and their family members or direct associates aren’t eligible for any of the prizes.

According to Frontier, if there’s any cheating, then an entry may be disallowed, and keep in mind that developers state that they will manually check the save file of the potential winners to verify if they have cheated or not.

It’s also important to note that players who pre-ordered Elite: Dangerous or backed the game will have a slight advantage from their starting second ship (Core Dynamics Eagle).

Remember that there’s no time limit for the competition, so when there’s a winner in any of the categories mentioned earlier, Frontier promised to announce it in their forums. For more details on the Elite: Dangerous competition, you can check out the original thread.
