The development team at ZeniMax Online and publisher Bethesda have finally managed to deliver The Elder Scrolls Online on the PlayStation 4 from Sony and the Xbox One from Microsoft, and the two companies are offering a five-hour guide for all those who are new to the MMO experience.

The official site explains that the world of Tamriel is very big and that gamers will be making some important choices even before they can immerse into the action, starting with the race they choose from the nine available, which in turn will decide which alliance they will be part of.

Breton, Redguard or Orc leads to the Daggerfall Covenant, choosing High Elf, Wood Elf and Khajiit means you'll be working with the Aldmeri Dominion, and picking the Dark Elves, Nords and Argonians means you will be aligned to the Ebonheart Pact.

The development team also delivers information on the included four classes, Dragonknight, Sorcerer, Nightblade and Templar, and the types of gameplay associated with each of them.

The start of The Elder Scrolls Online also means that gamers will need to learn how to work the combat system, including the parry system, with information delivered by Lyris Titanborn, a half-giant Nord.

The two companies are also offering information on other game mechanics, the starting quests and the fact that the world of Tamriel is a very dangerous one for newcomers.

Free-to-play has revitalized the MMO

When the title from ZeniMax Online and Bethesda was launched on the PC, it used a subscription system but player numbers have declined slowly.

The two companies have decided to move to a free-to-play model for The Elder Scrolls Online, allowing gamers to experience the core mechanics without paying and offering a separate store for cosmetic and convenience items.

With the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One launch, the MMO can get extra players, which can lead to more revenue in the future.

Bethesda has said that it aims to launch updates and new content as close as possible on the three platforms, although there are no plans to allow for cross play between them.

There are currently no plans to add new classes or races to The Elder Scrolls Online experience.
