All you have to do is push the lid as far down as it can go

There are many ways to store food and take it with you to a picnic. And let's not even give lunch boxes a second glance, since those are older than feudalism.

However, sometimes a certain type of food needs special handling, so there are special food storage systems you can buy.

Ed Kilduff of Pollen Design has just introduced one such system, called EVAK and equipped with the very interesting ability to suck out air.

Basically, if you store food inside and push the cap down until it can't go any lower (without crushing the food of course), the air will be sucked out of the container, leaving everything within safely ensconced in a bubble of bacteria-free vacuum.

And since the whole container is made purely of glass or stainless steel, there's no way for “foreign contaminants” to get to the food through them either. And you don't deal with the shortened shelf life caused by plastic packaging either.

EVAK is up for sale for $19.99 / €19.99 to $29.99 / €29.99, depending on the size you prefer. All in all, a good way to bring along delicious foods on lengthy road trips, assuming you have the patience for a few days of advance cooking before you embark on it.
