2K has just released a companion application for its upcoming 4v1 multiplayer shooter Evolve. The application is now available on all major mobile platforms and offers a little bit more than an option to keep track of their characters’ stats.

Evolve’s companion app comes with a tile-matching game called Hunter Quest, which will allow players to unlock unique game art, but also to “enhance their console skills by watching replays of their online multiplayer matchers from a strategic top-down view.”

But there’s more as those who have already purchased Evolve on PC or console, Hunters Quest also provide quick access to the main game for an expanded experience that can be enjoyed while on the move.

Now here comes the interesting part as 2K confirmed that “players can apply their Mastery Points earned in Hunters Quest to characters in the Evolve game on any platform.”

For example, if you decide to unlock Markov’s Lightning Gun Mastery Boost by playing Hunters Quest, then this will be saved to your my2K profile and the next time you open Evolve, the game will read the Mastery Boost unlock from my2K , thus increasing your Mastery progression by close to 50 percent of its total amount.

The companion app includes an Evolve-related match-3 puzzle game

Developed by Cat Daddy Games, a 2K studio, Hunters Quest is a match-3 puzzle game combat game with more than 100 missions set in the Evolve universe.

Just like in the Evolve game, players in Hunters Quest join a team of Hunters on the planet Shear in search of new and unique wildlife and Monsters.

During these missions, players must match three tokens of the same color to overwhelm their enemies, fill up energy bars to activate Hunters’ special abilities, and earn Mastery Points to level up their characters.

As mentioned earlier, Evolve’s companion application Hunters Quest is now available for download for free from App Store, Windows Phones Store, Google Play Store and Amazon Appstore.

iOS users should take note that the application is only compatible with iPad 2, iPad mini, iPhone 4s, iPod 5 and up, and will definitely not run on earlier generations of devices even if it can be downloaded.
