Turtle Rock recently announced several days ahead of the official release of Evolve that the game would be getting a large day-1 patch. The huge patch contains lots of changes and improvements, which will be implemented based on players’ feedback.

Since Evolve has already gone gold, developers have decided to fine tune the game through a day-1 patch, which must be applied before you are be able to play your first game.

“‘What can you really add to Evolve at this point? It’s already gone gold!’ This question came up a lot over the course of the Open Beta weekend in January. Truth is, that long weekend was a big learning experience for us.

“As a result, on day one – before you even start your first match on the live servers – we’ve made a number of refinements through a day-one patch,” confirmed developers in a blog post.

The patch's size may vary, but it should be around 3GB. It contains quite a lots of tweaks and optimization, but also general bug fixes.

New Elite skins and connectivity features will be included too

According to the official changelog, the patch will add some balancing tweaks based on the data gathered from the Big Alpha and Open Beta weekends.

Furthermore, the patch should also include game and level-loading optimizations. These improvements range from load times to improving matchmaking and network bandwidth optimizations.

As mentioned earlier, lots of general bug fixes will be implemented based on the same Big Alpha and Open Beta periods when players have reported lots of bugs found during these tests.

New Elite skins for Hunters and Monsters will be included in the patch based on the feedback Turtle Studios got from the community. Obviously, they need to be unlocked through gameplay.

Last but not least, this patch will also add connectivity to work with Evolve Hunters Quest, a mobile companion application that also adds a Match-3 puzzle combat game. Players will be able to earn experience and watch overhead match replays through the app.
