The downloadable content for Evolve is going to change the game and keep things fresh, as players will have incentives to join the online experience well past its launch period.

Evolve is one of the big all-new intellectual properties that are set to launch at the beginning of this new year, and developer Turtle Rock Studios hopes to get as many people as possible into the multiplayer experience, so that the servers are filled with eager people.

DLC is important for Evolve

Besides ensuring that the final game delights, the studio is also working on downloadable content that should draw in more and more people. Seeing as how some of that new content, like the fourth major monster, has been confirmed, Turtle Rock talks a bit more about the DLC with Destructoid, emphasizing just how important it will be for Evolve as a whole.

According to the studio's Creative Director Phil Robb, the content is going to introduce big changes that not only keep things fresh but also resurrect interest in the rest of the game when it comes to players who got bored or those who didn't buy it at launch.

"Just keeping the game fresh in some way is always a good way to bring people back for more. Any of the DLC we make, our plans around DLC are about introducing new experiences. We want to have more content that significantly changes the game and breathes life into all the stuff that came first," Robb explains.

"You have all these maps, and maybe you get bored of them after a while, but you throw a new monster in there and that has a ripple effect across the entire game."

Evolve's DLC strategy won't split the community

In case you forgot, Evolve will get premium content in the form of new monsters, hunters, or gear, but the maps will be free for all to download. This ensures that the community won't be split and even allows those who don't have the new characters to play in matches with those who do have them.

Evolve debuts on February 10 for the PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
