Video game developer Turtle Rock and publisher 2K Games are announcing that the new content drop for Evolve is now live, allowing gamers to get access to four new Hunters and to a powerful new monster, and that a new 2.0 patch has also been deployed for all those who own the game, designed to improve the overall experience.

Turtle Rock has eliminated some platform-specific problems that were affecting Evolve, but most of the changes are linked to the balance of the shooter, with tweaks made to the capabilities of the monsters, the powers of the Hunters, and the way they interact in combat.

The new DLC introduces characters like Torvald, an Assault specialist, Crow, a new Trapper, Slim, who is a Medic, and Sunny for Support, while the new monster is the powerful Behemoth.

Gamers can also access the Observer mode in order to livestream their Evolve experience.

The game also offers two new maps now, called The Broken Hill Mine and Broken Hill Foundry, both of them dominated by corridors, which are already live and free on the Xbox One and will be delivered to the PC and the PlayStation 4 on April 30.

Evolve has a long-term schedule for DLC delivery

Turtle Rock generated a lot of controversy when it announced that it was aiming to have a lot of content coming to the game via paid downloadable content packs, mainly because many fans believed that the new Hunters and Monsters should be part of the original release.

The studio has made it clear that it is aiming not to split the community, which means that any new mode that it will deliver and all coming maps will be offered for free, although it seems that they will be affected by a platform exclusivity deal with Microsoft.

Evolve is an asymmetrical shooter that pits four Hunters, who need to work as a team and carefully use their skills, against a capable Monster, who needs to grow in order to get the powers necessary to take them out.

Both Turtle Rock and 2K Games have said that they have been satisfied so far with the reception and the sales of the title.
