Now available in the Arch Linux distribution

The GNOME development team has recently announced the immediate availability for download and update of the second maintenance release of Evince document viewer for their GNOME 3.14 desktop environment. Evince 3.14.2 is a mainly a bugfix release that repairs several issues discovered in the previous version of the software.

According to the raw changelog, Evince 3.14.2 fixes exactly 14 issues reported by users via GNOME’s Bugzilla bug tracker website. Among these, we can mention a memory leak that occurred when new text annotations were added, as well as a crash in recent-view that occurred when the user tried to load password protected documents.

Additionally, the “CTRL=” and “=” have been added for the document zoom in functionality, printing of landscape documents is now possible again, the properties dialog shortcut has been repaired, the “Open in New Window” action has been re-implemented in the context menu, and copies of the printed document will no longer be saved if the printing settings are saved.

TIFF images that report 0 resolution are now handled by Evince

Thumbnail images now have the correct maximum size in evince-thumbnailer, a typo in the configure.ac file has been fixed in order to fix a configure issue with the ligbnome-desktop library, some quoting issues have been repaired in the configure.ac file, a full-screen issue has been fixed, and TIFF images that report a 0 (zero) resolution are now handled by Evince.

The toggle-find action will no longer appear if the document doesn’t support find, and the application can now correctly scroll to the search result selected by the user when not using the application in continuous mode. More details about Evince 3.14.2 can be found in the official changelog.

Last but not least, the German, Finnish and Argentinian language translations have been updated in this second point release of the stable Evince 3.14 document viewer for the GNOME 3.14 desktop environment.
