14 DAY TRIAL // Capcom has released a brand new batch of screenshots from the upcoming Dragon’s Dogma Online, showing us more of the game world and some of the other features of the title.
Dragon’s Dogma Online is a role-playing game set in the popular world of Dragon’s Dogma, due out later this year on the PS3 and PS4 home consoles and on PC. The original had a ton of flaws but was also praised for its innovations and solid combat system, the pinnacle of which was the boss encounter design.
Now, Capcom is aiming to release the game in Japan, and there is no word on whether or not the game will make it overseas. Given its popularity in the West, a localization of Dragon’s Dogma Online is very plausible, but we’re still waiting for the official announcement.
The images show a great-looking game
The fresh screens showcase the game’s crafting system, which will enable players to assign their pawn to the blacksmith, taking care of the tedious task of hammering away at iron until valuable items pop into existence.
This, of course, will take time and materials that players will have to farm during their adventures across the world. The screens also show Sonia, the pawn who is in charge of the crafting halls.
The images also showcase some of the other gameplay mechanics, including the World Quest feature. The quests will be handled by Seneca, a priestess, and take the form of various emerging activities that change every day.
Some examples of World Quests are nearby villagers being attacked by some monsters and requesting your assistance, and other things in this vein. The priestess will sell information pertaining to the quests to players, including the recommended level for each quest, enabling them to get bonus rewards.
In addition to seeing more character models in action, we also get to see two of the fearsome monsters that we’ll have to defeat in the upcoming adventure, a mighty and regal sphinx, and a gruesome troll.
