Capcom announced the game would be launched this year

Earlier this month, Capcom trademarked the Dragon’s Dogma Online name at USPTO, and judging by the fact that the original game did not feature a direct multiplayer mode, we immediately assume the publisher plans to expand on that in the not-so-distant future.

A Dragon’s Dogma Online game sounds tempting especially for fans, but that will all depend on the model Capcom will embrace and the way the publisher will decide to monetize it.

Well, it looks like Capcom has decided to adopt the free-to-play model for its newly announced Dragon’s Dogma Online game.

Siliconera reports that Japanese magazine Famitsu has just revealed in this week’s issue that Capcom will be launching Dragon’s Dogma Online on PC, PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4, and that the game will be free to play.

Although the original game was only released on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, it looks like Capcom felt there’s a good market for its game on the PC platform as well.

Unfortunately, Xbox players seem to have been skipped for the time being, as Famitsu doesn’t mention anything about a release on Microsoft’s consoles.

Players will be able to group in parties of up to 4

In Dragon’s Dogma Online players will party together to fight monsters and grab loot. There will be several classes to choose from at launch, including Hunter, Fighter, Shield Sage, Priest and many more.

The maximum numbers of players in a party will be four, but those who want to experience the game alone can add up to 3 AI pawns to their parties.

Capcom also confirmed it would include bigger missions where parties of up to 8 players will be able to participate, something like a raid perhaps.

Dragon’s Dogma Online will be open-world and will be enriched with new content through regular updates. There’s no exact release date for the game except that it will be launched this year.
