Only a small number of players will be admitted

Video game developer BioWare and publisher Electronic Arts are announcing that the beta sign-ups for all those who are interested in testing the fifth major patch for Dragon Age: Inquisition are now live and anyone can apply for a position.

It seems that the two companies are aiming to carefully control who is accepted into the process, and they say that all those interested need to head to a special new site which can be accessed with their Origin account and then accept a number of conditions before they are signed up.

BioWare will evaluate all candidates, although it is not clear what criteria they are planning to use, and then up to 24 hours might pass until gamers are notified if they have been accepted to test the fifth patch for Dragon Age: Inquisition.

The beta is only coming to the PC and will only be offered in English.

BioWare is also saying that the download for the beta version of patch 5 might be as big as 20 GB and that gamers who commit to testing it should make sure they back up all their saved games in order to avoid any problems in the future.

They will need to deliver clear feedback on any kind of problems they encounter and make sure that no bugs manage to make it to the full launch, with full patch notes offered in order to simplify the process.

The studio also warns those taking part that they will not be able to find random multiplayer matches if they are involved in the beta.

Dragon Age: Inquisition has not yet received DLC plans

Patch 5 for the role-playing game sounds like a big undertaking for both the developers at BioWare and the fans who apply and get accepted into the testing process.

The company has already said what core elements of the title it wants to tweak and what new features will be added to Dragon Age: Inquisition.

Presumably, once the new update has been tested and then delivered for the entire community, BioWare will be able to turn its attention to the creation of downloadable content for the game.

So far, the focus of BioWare has been on the multiplayer side of the game, but DLC will be used to expand the story, according to the statements made before the game was launched.

Update: BioWare says that the entries are now closed and that it is moving to inform those selected as fast as possible.
