BioWare doesn't offer longer hair for female characters

Dragon Age: Inquisition is finally launching all around the world this week, bringing forth a complex RPG but also an equally impressive character creator, but while it allows players to customize their protagonists, it also puts some limitations, especially when it comes to possible hair styles for female characters.

Dragon Age: Inquisition, just like many BioWare games before, allows players to craft a character that's either male or female. Seeing as how most titles nowadays feature just main characters from the male gender, it's refreshing to control a lady, so I decided to craft a human female warrior using the new creator system in the new RPG.

Unfortunately, while the creation process allows for in-depth customization and the Frostbite 3 engine makes characters look very good, the main problem, in my opinion, has to do with the hair styles that can be chosen for your protagonist.

Women, in case you haven't noticed, usually have longer hair than men, but in Inquisition all of the hair styles stop at shoulder length.

Yes, I can understand that you're going to war and it's not practical to have long hair flowing all over the place but that's why I already disable the presence of a helmet, so that I can admire my own character during cut scenes.

I can also understand that the Frostbite 3 engine isn't that good with portraying realistic hair, but I don't want any advanced effects, such as the TressFX from Tomb Raider. I just want some long hair for my female character, even if it's not animated in the most impressive way.

Check out a few screenshots below from the character creator, showing some of the slightly longer hairstyles on human, dwarf, or elf females. There's also a Qunari female option, but you have more options concerning her horns than her hair in that situation.
