The alternate picking method ensures balanced teams

A brand new patch has just been released for Dota 2 on the Steam platform by Valve, which brings forth a variety of improvements to the massively popular game but also the addition of the ranked all pick style of drafting heroes to the Year Beast Brawl game mode.

Dota 2 is going through one of its most popular in-game events of all time, as the New Bloom Festival of 2015 has not only resurrected even more interest in the already popular game by adding a new hero - Winter Wyvern - a new Arcana set for Crystal Maiden, and other improvements, but it's also inaugurated the Year Beast Brawl game mode.

The experience pits two teams against one another in regular battle, but at certain intervals, it spawns a Year Beast for each side that's controlled by the AI but can still be influenced by players to attack certain targets and move to certain positions.

As you can imagine, after the first few days of availability, the brawls, which happened in specific windows during the day, soon found themselves to be overrun with the same different heroes that proved the most efficient.

A new patch modifies the drafting in Year Beast Brawl

In order to combat this trend and allow each team a fair chance of drafting good heroes, the latest Dota 2 update now introduces the same rules employed in the ranked all pick matches. As such, teams and players take turns picking their heroes, so that the best possible combinations and counter-picks can be made.

The new update also brings forth a few other enhancements for the free-to-play online game. These include fixes for various pathfinding bugs and errors but also fresh values for the Year Beast's refresher aura ability.

A few glitches that dealt with the Fire Remnant ability of Emberg Spirit have also been remedied, as the hero can no longer get stuck when using remnants, or turn invisible after employing Sleight of Fist.

The experimental auto-repeat mouse mechanics and the move-to direction have also been tweaked slightly, but you can check everything out in the changelog below, via Steam.
