Valve has new things for the popular title

Valve confirms that two major new things are available for players of its highly popular Dota 2 title, in the form of a comic book that teases the upcoming introduction of Oracle, a new hero for the already huge roster of the online game, as well as a fresh voting system for the items found in the Steam Workshop.

Dota 2 is one of the most popular Multiplayer Online Battle Arena (MOBA) titles out there, capturing the hearts and minds of millions of players each month, thanks to its polished gameplay mechanics, great visuals, and practically constant updating from developer Valve.

However, in recent months, ever since the large 6.82 patch, things have been relatively silent, especially since this year Valve skipped on organizing the traditional Diretide event, in favor of working on a big update that's set to appear in early 2015.

Oracle is coming to Dota 2

Now, it seems that the company is still adamant about introducing new things, as it's just started promoting the upcoming debut of Oracle, one of the remaining Dota 1 characters that haven't made the jump to the new game.

As you can see on the official website, there's a new comic book called the "Foreseer's Contract," which focuses on Oracle, showcasing his new design in Dota 2, as well as Phantom Assassin, who might get a new Arcana custom item set alongside the special update.

Unfortunately, in classic Valve style, the first so-called "day" of the update appeared over the weekend and so far day 2 is nowhere in sight.

The Dota 2 workshop voting system is enhanced

While fans still have to wait for news concerning Oracle, they can enjoy right now a new voting system for the Dota 2 workshop on the Steam service, which uses a queue system just like the Steam Greenlight system.

"The Dota 2 Workshop has been redesigned to include a voting queue, which will make it easier for Dota workshop users to discover new items to vote on, as well as let us on the Dota team know which items you’d like to see shipped in-game," the studio explains.

"The new design will also make it easier to browse new item submissions by authors you follow, find out what your friends are favoriting, and receive Workshop-related updates from the Dota 2 team. Workshop authors should now mark their sets as 'sets' in the 'edit collection' page, as this will give us a better opportunity to showcase your item sets."

Expect to hear more about Dota 2's upcoming Oracle update in the following days.
