14 DAY TRIAL // The teams at developer Bungie and publisher Activision are announcing that they are extending the offer which allows gamers to upgrade their last-gen copies of Destiny to versions for the Xbox One and the PlayStation 4 indefinitely in order to allow the community to experience the title with better graphics and mechanics.
Gamers who have bought the social shooter for the Xbox 360 and the PlayStation 3 can benefit from the offer if they have purchased the digital version of the game, and the same is valid for those who have picked up the Season Pass for the first expansion, The Dark Below.
Gamers cannot move from the Sony last-gen device to the Xbox One or the other way around.
The official help page for Destiny states, “Many players have benefited from this initiative since it began. To enable more people to take advantage of this offering, it will be extended indefinitely. Please note that this extended offer is only for the Digital Guardian Edition, the Expansion Pass, and Expansion I.”
There are also questions that tackle all elements of the upgrade process in order to make sure that players manage to move platforms while keeping all their progress.
Bungie has long-term plans for the social shooter
From the moment Destiny was announced, the development team talked about the universe, which is designed to have a deep lore and to support a wide range of experiences in the future.
The fact that gamers are encouraged to move from last-gen consoles to the Xbox One and the PlayStation 4 might also be a sign that in the future the game might get features that are just not possible on older hardware.
At the moment, Bungie is not officially talking about the evolution of Destiny, but a leak says that House of Wolves, a new expansion, will arrive in March, bearing about as much content as The Dark Below.
An even bigger content drop is supposed to be offered in the summer, with new locations and some big changes to the core shooter mechanics.
