Video game developer Blizzard has just launched Season 3 for its very popular Diablo 3 title, and it seems that plenty of members of the community are already wondering about the date when the play period will end and rewards will be distributed to gamers.

Wyatt Cheng, a senior technical game designer at the studio, states on the official forums that the company aims to keep Season 3 running for at least 4 months and that a two week's notice will be given when it will be wound down.

The developer explains that Season 2 was a little too short while the first one was too long, which means that Blizzard is still learning which size the community considers to be the best one.

Cheng adds, "I totally agree that it’s about the journey, not the destination, and seasons allow us to enjoy the journey again. I also enjoy seasons for the fresh start and playing with all my friends again. I love that feeling of progressing from rare items to assorted legendary items to finishing a 6-piece set."

Season 3 was launched last week and allows gamers to test their characters against a range of challenges and earn rewards, including some unique pieces of equipment that cannot be obtained in any other way.

Diablo 3 continues to evolve

Despite the fact that the game is almost three years old, the developers at Blizzard are continuing to improve the core features and to add new activities for fans.

Patch 2.2.0 for Diablo 3 was launched last week and made a wide variety of changes to the way classes behave in combat and to other aspects of the title.

Blizzard now has a policy saying that no new updates will be introduced while a Season is running, which means that for the next 4 months, gamers will only get hotfixes if major problems are confirmed.

Rumors are saying that the studio is getting ready to announce a second full expansion for Diablo 3, which might be introduced before the end of the year.

The community believes that a new class will be added to the game and that more environments and one new game mode might also be introduced.
