Era 2 begins right after the end of the first one

The first season of Diablo 3 is set to end at the beginning of February, and alongside that, Blizzard confirms that it will also mark the conclusion of the game's first era, which means that the non-seasonal leaderboards will all be reset.

Diablo 3 received some big features last year through special updates from Blizzard, and among them was the season mechanic, as players were able to once again start the game from the beginning with seasonal characters to earn not just exclusive loot but also a place on the leaderboards, which were different than the standard ones.

The first Diablo 3 Era is also ending soon

Now, the first season is set to conclude on February 3, and Blizzard confirms on the official website that this will also bring about the ending of the game's first Era. According to the studio, Era conclusions will bring about a reset in the non-seasonal (aka the standard) leaderboards.

"The end of Season 1 is fast approaching, and with it, the end of our very first Era. In Diablo 3, an Era refers to a specific period of time in which non-Seasonal leaderboards are active. At the end of an Era, all current non-Seasonal leaderboard standings will be wiped and players will be unable to attain new leaderboard ranks until a new Era begins."

Era 2 begins right after it

However, unlike the seasons, the second Era is set to begin right after the first one concludes. Meanwhile, the second season will begin sometime after February 3, so they won't be tied together, according to Blizzard's plans.

All available characters, including the seasonal ones that will be added to the main game once season 1 ends, will be allowed to take a place on the Era 2 leaderboards, meaning that you might want to prepare for some intense dungeon crawling once the new period kicks off next month.
