Eidos Montreal is crafting each boss encounter

Deus Ex: Mankind Divided, the next iteration in the long-running series that's just been confirmed by Eidos Montreal, won't repeat the boss battle mistakes made by its predecessor, Human Revolution, as the developer is currently building them with its own team.

Deus Ex: Human Revolution launched several years ago across PC, PS3, and Xbox 360 platforms worldwide. The game quickly won over the hearts and minds of those who fell in love with the series in the early 2000s and was lauded for its RPG mechanics, its cyberpunk story, and the pretty good stealth system. Unfortunately, one particular area was quite disappointing - boss battles.

Eidos Montreal quickly revealed that, due to time and resource constraints, it was forced to partner with another studio that made the actual boss battles. This resulted in them not having a good interaction with the rest of the game.

Mankind Divided won't repeat the boss blunders of Human Revolution

Talking to fans on the PS blog, Eidos Montreal's Game Director Jean-Francois Dugas mentions that boss battles in Deus Ex: Mankind Divided won't be outsourced to another studio. He also emphasizes that with the Missing Link DLC for Human Revolution, the studio proved it can create a great boss encounter. As such, players should look forward to the new game.

"I already mentioned in the past that the reason why bosses weren’t what they could have been is not related to the fact they were outsourced. The boss problems are due to many internal factors and in the end, I had to make tough decisions that didn’t go the way. We did a way better job on the Missing Link and Mankind Divided won’t repeat Human Revolution’s fault on the subject," he explains.

Deus Ex: Mankind Divided is set to debut in 2016 for the PC, PS4, and Xbox One platforms, so you can expect to learn much more about its gameplay and even its boss battles in the future.
