The development team at Bungie is currently putting the finishing touches on the new The Dark Below expansion for Destiny, but the company still has the time to create promotional videos for the new content which show gamers what they will be able to get on December 9 and present a more humorous side of the franchise.

The footage allows gamers to take a look at the gameplay mechanics that are being introduced in the coming package, while also giving them a first look at the exotic loot that they will be able to pick up and use on launch.

The team explains, "DrCrispy93 has seen what waits for you in The Dark Below. He’s back with some sick new loot and stories to tell."

Previously, the full opening video for The Dark Below leaked and gamers were also able to take a look at an official developer diary which talks about the way the team approached the expansion and how they are planning to expand the main concepts that power Destiny.

The launch date for the new content is set for December 9 on all platforms, and a patch will accompany it and will include a number of yet unspecified changes

The Dark Below includes a major new Crota-based raid

The biggest draw of the coming expansion is the Crota's End raid, which will allow gamers to battle a being that has god-like power, with a range of other enemies also involved.

The Dark Below is also introducing new areas to explore for all players and the level cap for characters has been increased, which means that a range of new items can also be obtained and equipped.

The development team says that all the new content will be perfectly integrated with the world of Destiny and that many of the coming changes are based directly on the information that was offered by the player community since launch.

Both Bungie and Activision maintain that they currently have a ten-year plan for the new game universe, which involves both expansions and new titles.

Gamers can also look forward to new events for Destiny, which will involve a return of the Player versus Player-focused Iron Banner.

A second major expansion for the social shooter is at the moment early in the planning stages and is set to be launched in the summer of next year.
