There are some unsupported solutions to try out

The development team at Bungie is acknowledging that at the moment a number of Destiny players are having issues with getting access to The Dark Below expansion on either the PlayStation 4 or the PS3, and it is currently working on solving the problem.

In the meantime, gamers can try out some workarounds which will only have a chance to solve the issue if the region for the disc purchase and the expansion are the same.

On the official site, the studio says that the players’ primary account for Destiny needs to be the one where a disc for the game was purchased.

Unsupported alternatives for the region problems include:

- Make all purchases from the same region as your disc

- Create a proxy account in that region

- Add a valid payment instrument to this proxy account

- Credit card

- PlayStation Store gift cards from the same region

- Purchase Destiny content on your proxy account

- Play Destiny content on your primary account and system

Bungie adds, “If you have already purchased your Expansion in the wrong region, we can only recommend that you contact Sony Customer Support to discuss your options with them.”

It is unclear how many Destiny players are affected at the moment.

Destiny is mainly associated with the PlayStation 4

The regional content problems linked to Destiny and The Dark Below on the PlayStation 4 and the PS3 are especially important for Bungie because the game was strongly associated with the Sony home consoles both before and after launch.

At the moment, there are exclusive raids and weapons for the two platforms that will only be offered on the PC and the Xbox One at some point in the fall of next year.

It will be interesting to see whether all those affected will be able to access all the content they have bought or will have to purchase some of it again.

Bungie is currently still observing how the player community is engaging with the new content and will probably deliver more patches in order to make sure that gameplay is balanced.

At the same time, the Iron Banner Player versus Player event will return to Destiny on December 16 and it will introduce a range of new ideas and items for gamers to obtain.

Bungie also says that both daily and weekly activities will, for the foreseeable future, alternate between content from the core game and The Dark Below.
