The Dark Below expansion for Destiny might be a few weeks away from launch, but the opening cinematic for the new content has already been leaked and fans will want to take a look at it in order to get a feeling for the tone of the new environments that they can explore.

The footage might be just over a minute long, but the creators at Bungie have managed to create a horror-like atmosphere as they introduce gamers to Crota, the near god-like enemy that they will have to face, after first dealing with his minions.

The Dark Below is the first full expansion for Destiny and gamers will be able to get access to a range of new environments, new raids and rewards which will allow their characters to become more powerful as they move towards a new level cap.

The Crota’s End event will take place on the Moon and will be specifically tailored to offer a strong challenge even for gamers who have explored all the other content that the social shooter can offer.

All those who manage to take down the god will get access to impressive rewards.

Destiny will be supported for ten years

Those who either get the Season Pass for Destiny or place a pre-order for The Dark Below will get access to a special EV-30 Tumbler Sparrow vehicle that will make them stand out in the world.

Bungie has suggested that it might deliver more such special rewards for its fans in the coming months.

A second expansion for Destiny is already in the planning stages and is supposed to be offered in the summer of next year.

The social shooter has managed to attract a lot of gamers when it launched with its solid core mechanics and the typical Bungie attention to detail.

Since then, the studio has worked hard to take in feedback coming from the community and to deliver changes through patches, improving some modes and the overall balance.

At the moment, an Iron Banner Player-versus-Player event is running until November 24, allowing gamers to test their battle prowess in exchange for solid rewards.

Changes are being planned for exotic weapons and for other areas of the shooter in the coming weeks.

Destiny is also offered as a trial on both the PlayStation 4 from Sony and the Xbox One from Microsoft, and all progress a gamer makes can then be transferred to the full game once it is purchased.
