Bungie confirms that it's making a huge change with the upcoming Destiny update 1.2.0, as the patch, which is going to arrive alongside the House of Wolves expansion on May 19, plans on removing the commendations altogether.

Destiny was launched by Bungie and Activision back in September of last year, and while its debut was pretty controversial due to its quality, it gained a lot of loyal fans that keep coming back to the first-person shooter all the time across PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, and Xbox One.

The game has since received a major expansion, in the form of The Dark Below, and its second add-on, House of Wolves, is set to launch on May 19.

Patch 1.2.0 for Destiny brings one big change

In the latest weekly update, Bungie confirms that alongside the expansion, a special update 1.2.0 for Destiny is going to launch for all owners of the game.

Besides supporting the new expansion, the update also brings a major change to the progression system by eliminating commendations. According to the studio's website, the new planned mechanics no longer need the commendations so fans are advised to spend them for reputation.

"Commendations are one more element to the upgrade path for your Guardian that we’re changing," the studio confirms. "Essentially, they’re going away. You'll no longer need them to acquire new weapons or gear. If you have a bunch of them stockpiled, you can burn them for reputation. Gaining reputation will speed you toward your next promotion, thus earning you another reward package. To prosper and equip yourself with new stuff, just earn Marks!"

Bungie also confirms that next week it's going to organize another live stream focusing on House of Wolves next week, this time revealing the long-awaited Trials of Osiris event. Expect to hear much more at that time and other reveals as we get closer to the May 19 debut of the Destiny add-on.
